PPI was created to assist people who were unable to make loan or credit repayments due to sickness or unemployment. One of the significant problems of PPI was that it was sold on an enormous scale, often to consumers who didn’t benefit from the policy being included on their loan. In many cases, people were sold PPI without being made aware of what the policy was actually for, or weren’t asked the questions which would have determined that the policy was not suitable for them. The banks often made more profit from PPI than the loan itself and this encouraged a culture of mis-selling.
Payment protection insurance was sold to a number of different consumers from a number of different financial institutions. In Ireland, there have been a number of banks guilty of mis-selling PPI so it is always sensible to check if you were mis-sold PPI.
In October 2012, the Central Bank of Ireland requested that a number of financial institutions investigate PPI policies which were sold from July 2007 to July 2012. However, the banks have made slow progress in their review and are only assessing a small percentage of the policies sold within that time-frame. We believe that the consumers should enlist the help of a specialist firm who has experience in standing up to the banks and earning their clients the compensation they deserve.
Our previous experience in dealing with these cases will prove invaluable in helping you earn a substantial settlement. We won’t settle for half measures when it comes to compensation and will back the individual consumer based on the merits of their case. If you believe you were misinformed about PPI as a product or were unaware it had been sold to you, then you should begin processing a claim now.
